Round Rock is pursuing $55 million in federal grant funding to support critical road infrastructure projects across the city, according to city officials.
The city submitted applications for funding through the U.S. Department of Transportation's Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant program, which provides funding for road, bridge, transit and other surface transportation projects.
The funding would support several major transportation initiatives, including intersection improvements along major corridors and expansion of key arterial roads to accommodate the city's growing population.
"These projects are essential to maintaining mobility and safety for Round Rock residents as our community continues to grow," said a city spokesperson.
The grant applications highlight the city's commitment to improving traffic flow and reducing congestion on heavily traveled routes. If approved, construction could begin as early as 2027.
Round Rock has experienced significant population growth in recent years, putting increased pressure on existing road infrastructure. The city's transportation master plan identifies several corridors in need of capacity improvements.
City officials expect to learn the outcome of the grant applications later this year. The RAISE program is highly competitive, with applications from communities across the nation vying for limited federal dollars.
